The feature I waited years for reached production in a week
An old idea: turn the building chessboard, which was born about 12 years ago as a Google Sheets form, into a tool for daily work. But for years I heard the same thing: "That's a big refactoring." "There are more important tasks right now." "We'll come back to it later."
In the end I decided to do it myself.
I ran our system in Claude Code. To my surprise, it started on localhost within minutes. Then, without intermediaries in the form of a designer and a developer, and without the loss of meaning in communication between people, I built what had been in my head for a long time.
Now from a single screen of the building's digital map, our chessboard, you can do almost everything: - switch any data layers for the building, - see debtors and send them a news item, - see who has downloaded the app, - bring up active requests and their status, - create new tasks and residents.
A cockpit for a management company employee.
The first working result appeared in about 4 hours. Then we polished it with design, handed it to development, and the new functionality went to production.
If you deeply understand the product and the market, AI removes the huge time losses of passing meaning between people. And what used to take months, you launch in days. And not only in a new product with no legacy, but in a product as complex as ours, which dozens of developers worked on for many years.
